The invisible threads of being exist within the simplest interactions and can be a reminder of hope: a shared glance between strangers passing each other in the street, a deep breath of fresh air, an early April rainfall which brings tulips back to life. Without looking too closely, we can encounter endless ways to feel the interconnection of all beings.
My art practice is an acknowledgment of parallel symbols found across all life forms. Often, we take for granted the expansiveness of our connections. We are distracted by our egos which try to stand out: to overcome the inevitability of our being which is to be a part of nature.

Karla Biery is an interdisciplinary artist working to express connection. In February 2025, she moved to Rio de Janeiro as a Fulbright Scholar to work as an intern in the studio of the artist Ernesto Neto. She lives and works in Rio, now in the studio of Maria Nepomuceno as an assistant.
Biery's art practice examines the aesthetics of connection and crochet as a means to express the interconnectedness of all beings.
